The main goals of Qigong are health, healing, longevity and peace of mind. Qigong is a tool for eliminating stress not creating it. It allows you to stay calm, peaceful and in harmony with nature.

Posture is important: it optimizes all aspects of the natural inner flow. With good posture the internal organs have more room thus allowing them to function better .The spine becomes erect, the shoulders relax reducing any tension. Your posture is adjusted to its correct position ,the exercises are gentle allowing balance and harmony within the body. It optimises all aspects of natural inner flow. The effect of daily practice on the body makes the body relax, regulates your breathing and you release any daily stresses.

Qigong co-ordinates and balances the right and left brain hemispheres promoting deeper sleep ,mental clarity and reducing any anxieties .The blood pressure is reduced as the heart rate decreases. By increasing the flow rate of the lymph fluid around the body the immune system increases.

Practice of Qigong brings harmony to your daily life. You may find less need for medication and visits to the doctors. Your sleep pattern improves and your stamina increases . At first it can bring out problems in the body but with time and practice they can be helped and even cured. In terminal problems it can create a more peaceful state of mind and reduce pain.

The best place to practise is outside in an area that is comfortable to you at a time that suits you, doing as many repetitions as you feel. In a class situation bear in mind everyone learns at a different pace so do not try and compare or compete with fellow students. Just listen to your body. Practice must be done within your own comfort zone. At first you may think the movements are simple but they are healing and improve your posture. When practising try and keep a clear mind. Any daily problems leave till later as worry disturbs the qi flow.

Qigong requires no special equipment or clothing, it has no complex movements and is not time consuming. It is the most profound internal medicine. Qigong is easy if you let it be. Within the school we say “don’t think just do.” We all have the ability to gather qi but stress and daily distractions depletes it quicker. This creates inner tension which causes fatigue or illness. Daily practice will eliminate this happening. Allow the qi to work by relaxing to release the pressures of the day. Qigong helps you to become fit thus allowing you to have enough energy and stamina for other pursuits.
